About Tamil Nadu Urban Employment Scheme 2021

The Government of Tamil Nadu has introduced the Tamil Nadu Urban Employment Scheme. The plan aims at ensuring livelihoods and social security by enhancing jobs and opportunities by ensuring the maintenance and creation of assets owned by the public. This program will be introduced as a pilot program in two zones of the greater Chennai corporation, one zone for each of the fourteen municipal corporations, 1 municipality in seven regions, and one Panchayat for each district in 37 for the period 2021-22. The government has allocated 100 crores to implement the operation of the scheme. The scheme is based on recommendations put forward by a committee that is headed by the ex-Governor of the Reserve bank of India C Rangarajan. In this plan, 50% of the total day of the person is designated for women. Women and men will receive the same wages for the same non-skilled and semi-skilled jobs.
